It’s all well and good being set up as a freelancer or small business owner but now you need some clients! So where are you going to find them? It’s not always easy but you’d be surprised at the number of times we’d heard of people finding clients when they least expected it. Time to get hustling…

Here are our top 5 tips to get you started:

  1. At the school gates; despite seeing each other on a daily basis, we often don’t know what other parents at the school gate actually do for a living – and just how many of them may need some social media support.
  2. Friends and family; it’s amazing how many people will be interested in what you do just by mentioning it at a family party or get together. And if they don’t need your services, they may very well have a neighbour or friend who does.
  3. Networking; be it online or in person, networking is a great way to make connections. If you’re looking for clients in your geographic area, get yourself along to a local networking event and get your business card out there.
  4. LinkedIn; one of the best platforms for connecting with potential clients. Get your profile up to speed and don’t underestimate the power of this channel. 
  5. Via your own social channels; don’t forget to make sure your channels look great, get involved in Twitter hours, Tweet chats and remember to engage, engage, engage!
